A Southern Nevada Youth Fire Safety Academy was held at the LVFR Training Center for children ages 5-11 years old. You will see in some of the photos that we used foam and tape to simulate what it would be like to have limited used of arms, hands, shoulders, legs, and other extremities in the event the youth experienced a burn injury. This was an idea from Yasmin at UMC! This is something that both the kids and the parents were impacted by and is extremely beneficial and educational for this age group.
We want to thank Yasmin Conaway with UMC Lions Burn Care; Steven Taulbee, LVFR AFPE; Jamie Sypniewicz, LVFR Fire Investigator; Todd Friley, LVFR Fire Inspector; and Paola Pisani, LVFR Fire Inspector for participating in this highly educational program.
